Amelia Taylor joined the Polytechnic in 2015 as a lecturer in Artificial Intelligence. She obtained a PhD in Computer Science in 2006 from Heriot-Watt University. She worked as a research associate between 2004-2005 with Professor Werner Nut working on a query language for astronomical data. In 2006 she switched to working in finance in the city of London and Edinburgh. In London, she worked as a quantitative analyst for Asset Management One International Ltd (former DIAM International) also managing their passive REIT portfolio. In Scotland she worked for Scottish Widows Investment Partnership in the Fixed Income front desk building investment risk models. She also worked for Alliance Trust PLC as a quantitative analyst building risk and asset allocation models.
Since moving to Malawi, Amelia came back into the Academia. She is interested in Natural Language Processing, Expert Systems and Data Visualisation.
